Alder Hollow takes place on an English countryside in 1864. This is a time before the four Clans, where AshClan rules. Rogues and loners appear occasionally, but are usually chased away and out of Clan territory once more. Like in the olden times with humans, the she-cats are treated poorly by the toms. Some cats take action by being a suffragette, a she-cat who wants change in the Clan to be treated equally with the other cats. Most of the toms don't support them, however. Will these she-cats somehow take a stand and get equal rights granted to them from their leader or from Yarrow, the holy cat God himself? Or will they continue to be poorly treated until the four Clans start to arise in the distant future? It's up to you to decide. You can either be an arrogant warrior who fights for his Clan, a persistent suffragette who wishes to end the hard times, or a queen or nanny who faces the facts and accepts it.
